Dear Sir,
We wish to have the following information printed as Community News. We understand your need for editorial changes. Should you desire additional information please call myself, Ed Rice, (607) 292-6639, or Pastor Smith, (315)531-8673.
On February 8th Good Samaritan Baptist Church voted to receive Rev Edward G. Rice as their Senior Pastor. Rev Jeff Smith, the previous Pastor, has accepted the Pastorate position at Fingerlakes Baptist Church in MacDougall, just outside Geneva.
"Our intention was originally to plant a new Independent Fundamental KJV Preaching Church in Geneva. This opportunity, with Fingerlakes Baptist Church allows us to form a 'sister' Church relationship just outside of Geneva. We have had several families driving from north of Geneva to attend Good Samaritan Baptist Church, and our building has been filled to capacity for well over 6 months. We praise God for this opportunity for growth and expansion."
Pastor Rice has been serving as an Associate Pastor at GSBC since Aug 1997. "Our firm stance on an Old Time Salvation, an Old Time KJV Bible, and an Old Time Preaching Of God's Word, has brought about tremendous growth and the blessings of God. We will be continuing with that priority."
"The Bible Says 'Thus Saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.' I often say 'If its NEW its NOT TRUE, if its TRUE its NOT NEW. GSBC is not interested in bringing something new into our community. We are interested in an Old Time Salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ. As a Pastor 'I am just a nobody, telling everybody about SOMEBODY that can save anybody.' We are interested in an Old Time Preaching of God's Values and God's Righteousness and its applications to a holy righteous Christian life. We are interested in proclaiming the clear teaching of Christ about Heaven and Hell and His ability to save you from eternal judgment by His blood and His grace, nothing more and nothing less! As modern Churches step off into supposed 'new ways of working your way to God' GSBC is interested in stepping back. Back into an Old Fashioned KJV Bible which draws clear lines that a soul must use to approach a Holy & Righteous God through the Lord Jesus Christ alone; clear lines that tell us to proclaim His salvation to our community and to the world.
The direction and purpose of GSBC will continue in this vain as it has under Pastor Smith for the past 4 years. We are excited that now there will be two Churches in this area with the same charter. These Independent Fundamental KJV Baptist Churchs are growing up all through NY State. Pastor Terry Fenton, of Seneca Bible Baptist Church, Seneca Falls NY, preached the challenge to the Church and Pastors, after the Sunday vote on Pastor Rice. Pastor Fenton has also been working towards planting a Church in the Geneva area, and we are excited to be co-laborers together for Christ. God Said "a threefold cord is not quickly broken." We are looking for His continued blessing in these changes.
There will be an installation service for Pastor Rice on Sunday March 8th at 3 PM. A challenge to the Church and to Pastor Rice will be given. Several Independent Fundamental Baptist Pastors will participate in that service and the public is cordially invited to attend.
In Christ's Service
Edward G. Rice
