- The Former Prophets function within the historical books
- In the books of Joshua, Judges, Samuel, Kings
- Elijah, Elisha, Nathan, Micah et. al.
- Latter Prophets
- Major (with major amounts of writings in Scripture)
- Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel
- Minor (with smaller amounts of writings in Scripture)
- Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi.
- Prophecy has come to mean predicting future events
- But Prophets were Foretellers and Forthtellers
